Multi-disciplinary exhibition curated by substance, supported by The Lock Up, May 2024

Developed between two of the greasiest locales imaginable (Newcastle and Paris), GREASE was an multidisciplinary exhibition exploring connections to the world of the sticky, the icky, the oily, and the dirty. Inviting artists from across visual arts, performance, and sonic practices to respond to grease’s material characteristics as well as it’s diverse aesthetic tropes, GREASE played with slippage between style and stereotype, platforming experimental practice and lubricating even the tightest screw. GREASE is the second project of curatorial collective substance.
